SEPTA postpones demo of Ambler’s Freight House after petition

The Wissahickon Valley Historical Society has shared that SEPTA has temporarily postponed the planned demolition of the Ambler train station’s Freight House. The postponement follows the recent submission of a petition, signed by more than 1,000 people, which sought to save the structure from the wrecking ball.

According to the historical society, SEPTA is concerned that the structure may collapse onto the train tracks, so is seeking quick action to preserve the structure. The historical society is in the process of reviewing a summary of the engineering report and there is going to be a meeting at the building with representatives of the society and SEPTA.

More to come.
