The Public Enemy at the Ambler Theater

We know we have already reported about the Ambler Theater’s Summer Nights program but we felt the need to highlight this particular movie in the series…it’s one of our favorites. On Wednesday, July 27th at 7 pm, the Ambler Theater will be showing the 1931 classic The Public Enemy, starring James Cagney.

From the Ambler Theater:

This pre-code gangster classic stars James Cagney as a young man rising in the ranks of the criminal underworld during prohibition. The death of a powerful boss ignites a mob war in the streets of Chicago. Cagney defined the gangster film in the early days of Hollywood, and he’s at the top of his game in THE PUBLIC ENEMY.

This is Cagney’s 7th film and the one that made him a star. Seriously awesome film if you are a fan of Cagney, gangster movies or just an awesome old film. We’ll be there. It’s two months away but mark your calendars today.
