Update | Sober House Hearing in Whitpain

Last night the Whitpain Township Zoning Board heard the continued case of the Sober House proposed for 813 Stonybrook Drive in front of another overflowing crowd at Montgomery County Community College. The Whitpain Zoning Board had an opportunity to ask applicant, Jane Medvetz questions, and then residents were given an opportunity to ask Medvetz questions, as well.

There will be another meeting scheduled in March to continue the public comment portion of this hearing because there was not enough time last night. We will update you with the March date when we know.

To re-cap, on May 25, 2018, applicant Jane Medvetz, by way of her daughter and Power of Attorney, Lisa Medvetz, filed a Zoning Application seeking certain zoning relief to facilitate a 9- person Sober House use on the property located at 813 Stonybrook Drive, within the Township’s R-1 Residence District. Read about the details of the proposed Sober House here and see our Facebook live videos which give brief examples of last night’s meeting below . (click full screen to see everything)

For even more background information, look at the presentation below, as many zoning laws for our area are explained, and some language has been either clarified or a proposal to amended relevant definitions has been submitted.  The Board has a limited time to make a decision on this case, and that process is explained below as well.
