Whitemarsh Memorial Park Hosts 62nd Annual Memorial Day Service

The public is invited to Whitemarsh Memorial Park (1169 Limekiln Pike,
Amber) to recognize the service of our nation’s veterans and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice at the park’s 62nd annual Memorial Day, which will be held without restrictions this year.

Whitemarsh Memorial Park will have over 400 flags on display from Saturday, May 28th through Monday, May 30th. Dedicated to the memory of those who served, The Avenue of Flags will be on display throughout Memorial Day weekend.

This morning (May 28th), Boy Scout Hatboro Troop 3, Warrington Pack 35, and Hatboro Cub Scout Pack 410 will help place over 2,000 flags on Veterans’ graves at Whitemarsh Memorial Park’s Veterans sections.

Later on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., Ben Warner and guests will perform the Veteran Tribute at Veterans Feature at the Veterans Memorial Garden. There will be a second performance from Warner on Sunday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m.

The Memorial Day ceremonies will start at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 30th, with Thom Moore, the Happy Bagpiper, playing in the Veterans Memorial Garden. At 11:00 a.m., The Hickory Brass Band, under the direction of Bob Wagner, will perform at the Tower Mausoleum. The Indian Valley HOG Annual Memorial Ride will also start at 11:30 a.m. at the Limekiln Pike entrance.

At noon, the service will feature remarks by Kim DeTample Cunningham, a gold and blue start mother. Following Cunningham, the 4th-grade essay contest winner from Worcester Elementary will be announced. From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Rita’s of Limekiln Pike will be serving Italian ice and refreshments at the main office.

At 2:00 p.m., musician Robert Liz will perform “Tribute to American Rock” at the Tower Mausoleum. Cardinal Hollow Winery will also provide beverages during the performance.

To close the ceremony, Ben Warner and guests will perform the Veteran Tribute at Veterans Feature at the Veterans Memorial Garden.
