Whitpain Considers Tax Credits for Volunteers

The Board of Supervisors of Whitpain Township is considering an ordinance, Act 172, that would allow Volunteer Firefighters and EMTS tax to claim tax credits of up to 20% on real property and 100% on earned income.

From Whitpain Township:

“The Supervisors have been determined to grant the maximum credits allowed by the law since it passed late last year,” said Township Manager Roman Pronczak. “We agree with our partners at Centre Square Fire Company and Second Alarmers Rescue Squad that the credits can help with recruiting and retention, but more importantly in recognizing the selfless service of our volunteers.”

The more than 70 volunteers that serve the Township save Whitpain over 2 million dollars yearly.
