The Whitpain Police Department posted a warning about “credit card skimmers”, and said that several have been found on ATM machines around town. Make sure to check for these deceptive devices each time you are at an ATM. Take a look the warning and video below to find out how to spot skimmers.  From the Whitpain Police:

Unfortunately this is a very popular trend with criminals and as you can see in this video from Freeport Police Department, these devices are very deceptive and hard to spot. They are often located on ATM’s or gas station pumps. As the detective suggests in this video, any time you use your credit card at one of these kiosks, be sure to pull on the device first to ensure it is legitimate. Whitpain PD has found several of these skimmers at various locations in town including banks and the Wawa on DeKalb Pike. Stay diligent and immediately contact us if you discover one of these devices!
