Whitpain Township Continuing to Pursue Purchase of Mermaid Swim Club

The owner of the former Mermaid Swim Club is auctioning restaurant and other equipment from its operation. This does not impact Whitpain Township’s plan to purchase all or a portion of the Mermaid Tract as discussed earlier this year.

The Township has long been a leader in resource conservation and recreation, starting with the acquisition of the 62-acre Cooke Farm in 1966 and growing to 454 acres being preserved.

The Township continues to seek various alternatives to enhance recreational opportunities including additional ballfields, trails, and playing courts.  Additionally, the tract offers opportunities to create stormwater enhancements as well as increasing the woodland canopy.
