Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association Honors Wissahickon Community and Welcomes New Board Members

The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association (WVWA) held their Annual Meeting at Germantown Academy on Tuesday, January 29. Members and friends attended the event to honor the dedication, work and spirit of the community.

This year WVWA gave special recognition to several members of the community for their outstanding work. Bill MacDonald received the Lifetime Achievement award, in recognition of the enormous amount of time and energy he has given to WVWA over the years. Saly Glassman received the Friend of the Watershed award, in honor of her leadership, accommodations, and active collaboration with WVWA. Saly was unable to attend the event, but her husband, Ira Berman, accepted the award on her behalf. Nolan Painting received the Trailblazer award, for their far-sighted vision and significant contributions to WVWA. Kevin Nolan (founder), Claire Nolan, Todd Hewish, and April Torrisi of Nolan Painting attended the event.

Whitpain Township received the Conservation Champion award, in recognition of their leadership, actions and advocacy, which has substantially benefited the Wissahickon Watershed. Whitpain Township Manager Roman Pronczak and Whitpain Board of Supervisors members, Michele Minnick and Fred Conner attended the event.

Kate Harper and Keith Eby were elected to WVWA’s Board of Directors. Kate Harper is a partner at Timoney Knox and was a member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly in the House of Representatives, representing eastern Montgomery County for 18 years. She has worked to protect open space in the Wissahickon Watershed for decades and supports the Wissahickon Clean Water Partnership. Keith Eby is a portfolio manager with Haverford Trust and serves on WVWA’s Development Committee. He is an avid trail user and values the community and environmental benefits of the protecting open space along the Wissahickon Creek.
