Centre Square Commons in Whitpain Township is one of the recipients of the 2018 Montgomery Award, recognizing it’s outstanding redevelopment.
This prestigious annual award program recognizes the best in “planning, design, and advocacy in Montgomery County”, promoting awareness of “outstanding design and innovative planning in our communities by awarding successful land developments, revitalization efforts, open space enhancements, environmental sustainability, and transportation improvements”.
The Montgomery Award recognizes a project completed in the past three years that exemplifies the practices of environmental stewardship and conservation for water and soil quality. Since 1967, the program has presented 209 awards that acknowledge the outstanding efforts and commitment of communities, organizations, and professionals in achieving excellence.
Centre Square Commons is recognized as:
An outstanding redevelopment project awarded for collaborative planning, creative design, and community investment. This exceptional redevelopment project transformed a collection of unconnected properties into a community town center that not only reflects the vision of the township’s comprehensive plan but also reestablished the heart of Centre Square Village. This project involved the compilation of several underused properties, a successful effort involving many partners, and the creation of a vibrant community focal point.
