Ambler EAC to participate in National Clean Up Day on September 16, community volunteers invited

The community is invited to join the Ambler Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) in a litter and cigarette butt clean up on Saturday, September 16 from 9:00am to noon.

Individuals, families and small groups of volunteers are invited to meet at Ambler Borough Hall, 131 Rosemary Ave. Bags, gloves and tools will be provided.

Children participating must be accompanied by an adult.

National Clean Up Day will attract thousands of participants to help clean their local areas of litter and cigarette butts.

“Cleanups are an important building block to environmentalism and civic action that anybody can participate in, regardless of previous experience. They are a great way to connect with others, build a network of like-minded people, and tackle the issue of mismanaged waste. Everyone deserves a clean community,” said Nancy Roecker Coates, chair of Ambler EAC.

The Ambler EAC is an Environmental Advisory Council made up of community residents, who are appointed by Ambler Borough Council. Members devote time and energy to assist elected and appointed officials in protecting the environment.

Popular EAC programs include: Make Ambler a Shade Better tree sales and planting and Pick Up PA clean-up events. In addition, the EAC functions to advise Borough staff and elected officials on the protection, conservation, management, promotion, and use of natural resources within Ambler Borough limits. Ambler EAC is supported by the Ambler Borough Council Parks & Recreation Committee.
