Bites & Blends in Dresher launches ‘Give Back Thursdays’ fundraiser for local nonprofits, Abbey’s Bakery now on board

Bites & Blends, a smoothie and juice bar in Dresher, launched a new fundraiser called “Give Back Thursdays” three weeks ago.

The weekly event is a version of Dine & Donate, a tried-and-true cooperative through which restaurants donate a set percentage of sales to a group’s cause.

Dori Fleekop, Bites & Blends’ owner, couldn’t be happier with the outcome so far.

“It’s been going really well. A lot of our regulars are involved in the organizations, so we hear from them often,” he said. “It’s how the nonprofit world and the for-profit world can intersect.”

Bites and Blends opened in December 2023 in the Upper Dublin Promenade, and Fleekop saw an opportunity to combine business with philanthropy.

“I do a lot of work with local boys and girls clubs, and we had people reaching out to us from various organizations. We wanted to do something consistently that benefited those organizations,” he said.

“We are a community-driven business,” Fleekop, an Upper Dublin native, said. “Each of these organizations make a difference in the community and that’s why we give back to them so they can continue to do what they do.”

Each organization receives 15 percent of the sales for the day back when customers use a specific code through their mobile-ordering app or in person.

The organizations include:

  • Chai Hopes For Peace (Code: CHAI)
  • Jarrettown Elementary School PTO (Code: JTES)
  • Stephen’s Rise & Grind (Code: SRG)
  • Upper Dublin Baseball (Code: UDBB)
  • Upper Dublin Football Team (Code: UDFT)
  • Upper Dublin Marching Cardinals (Code: UDMC)
  • Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club (Code: WVBGC)

Abbey’s Bakery, a local nonprofit dedicated to mental health awareness, will be added to the list this week, Fleekop said.
