Borough of Ambler and local Democratic Party officials must resign after not condemning local official’s statement supporting political violence

It has now been over 12 hours since AroundAmbler.com reported on the statements made by Jennifer Stomsky, the elected tax collector for the Borough of Ambler, and the leader of the Democratic Party in Ambler, and the vice-chair of the party for the entirety of the communities that make up the Wissahickon School District. The statements followed the assassination of Charlie Kirk and involved her belief that political violence has become necessary, and she stated, “let’s make more martyrs.”

While Stomsky has hidden her personal Facebook page and the Facebook page for her role as tax collector, we are unaware of any move to address the issue or resign from office. Stomsky, nor anyone else, has contacted AroundAmbler.com to offer a comment since the article’s publication.

However, Stomsky is really no longer the story.

The elected officials in Ambler and Democratic Party officials in Area 14 (Ambler, Lower Gwynedd, and Whitpain) have not condemned the call for political violence, nor addressed how Stomsky can continue in office as the tax collector or in two leadership positions within the Democratic Party at the local level.

Essentially, they only had to make what should have been the easiest statement they would ever have to make, and they chose not to do it. Either they agree with Stomsky that political violence has become necessary or they don’t. Silence points to only one answer.

Mayor of Ambler Jeanne Sorg and borough council members, Amy Hughes (Ward 1), Louis Orehek (Ward 1), Karen Sheedy (Ward 1), Redmond Brubaker (Ward 2), Jennifer Henderson (Ward 2), Glynnis Siskind (Ward 2, and council president), Nancy Roecker Coates (Ward 3), David Hui (Ward 3), and Elizabeth M Iovine (Ward 3, and council vice president), by not condemning Stomsky’s statements have shown they are unworthy to continue in office. They should all resign.

This is also true of Joyce Keller, the Democratic Party’s Area Leader for Area 14. She should resign her party leadership position and her elected seat on Whitpain Township’s Board of Supervisors. There are a host of other Area 14 committee members who should no longer serve in leadership positions within the party. Ambler and all the communities in Area 14 are, by far, one-party towns, and unprincipled leadership in that party cannot be tolerated.

There are numerous comments on Facebook under our article. We tried to convey that we don’t think people should try to get people fired in their private lives. Should they resign from public office? Absolutely. Should they get fired? That is not the public’s concern.

We also emphasized that this is a local issue. There was no need for it to be shared by the Internet political celebrities. Ambler should have been able to handle this without it becoming an international story (which it already has). Unfortunately, local leadership proved itself to be incapable of condemning the call for political violence.

All of you should resign for the good of Ambler.
