Borough of Ambler to consider the eminent domain of building on South Main Street involved in recent fire

On the agenda of the February 15th meeting of the Borough of Ambler’s council is a draft resolution that involves the eminent domain of 6 South Main Street in the borough. This property is home to Ebner’s Auto and Church of Acts and has been owned by Pasquale Riccardi since 1977. The property recently had a major fire and was heavily damaged.

The text of the draft resolution (page 4) states that the purpose behind the eminent domain is for parking and to provide access to the neighboring SEPTA parking lot.

The text also references that eminent domain is necessary because “the Borough has not been able to amicably arrive at terms pursuant to which the owner will voluntarily convey the parcel to the Borough.” It also states that the property “as result of the recent fire damage, is generally available for purchase.”

We messaged today with Tim Ebner of Ebner’s Auto, who shared that he did not have any details about the situation and is actually still in the hospital (he was injured in the fire).
