The primary election is set for May 20th, and the general election will follow on November 4th. Locally, seats are up for election on the Wissahickon and Upper Dublin school boards, and in Ambler, Lower Gwynedd, Upper Dublin, and Whitpain. Below is a breakdown by school district and municipality. Please note that this is based on an unofficial list shared by Montgomery County and could change if any of the paperwork filed is successfully challenged.
Wissahickon School District
Four seats with four-year terms are up for election for the school board, along with one seat for a two-year term (due to a resignation).
In the race are incumbents Amy Ginsburg, a Democrat who has cross-filed as a Democrat and Republican, and Eugene Colson, a Democrat who will only appear on the Democratic Party ballot.
New cross-filed candidates are Daniel Strauss, Michelle Chess, Steve Black, and Syeeta Settles.
Candidate Noel Kelly will appear only on the Democratic Party ballot, and Colleen Cemprola and Joseph Campbell will appear only on the Republican ballot.
Only one candidate is seeking the two-year term, incumbent Deanna Morris (D).
Upper Dublin School District
Four seats with four-year terms are up for election for the school board, along with one seat for a two-year term (due to a resignation).
Running for the two-year term is incumbent Mark Sirota, who cross-filed to appear on the Democratic and Republican party ballots.
Running for the four-year term are incumbents Jenna Evans and John Held. Both crossfiled.
New candidates running are Kenya Lowe and Wendy Bailey. Both crossfiled.
Ambler
Longtime Mayor Jenne Sorg (D) is running unopposed in the primary and the Republicans do not have a candidate.
Incoming tax Collector Jennifer Stomsky (D) is also running unopposed. The Republicans do not have a candidate.
There are six seats up for election on the borough council.
In Ward 1, incumbents Karen Sheedy (D) and Louis Orehek (incumbent by appointment) are both running unopposed in their respective primaries. Ward voters will cast two votes in the general election in November, so they aren’t running against one another.
In Ward 2, incumbents Glysnnis Siskind (D) and Redmond Brubaker (D, incumbent by appointment) are the only two candidates. Primary and general election voters get to vote for two candidates. The Republicans do not have candidates.
In Ward 3, incumbent David Hui (D) is running unopposed for a two-year term due to a resignation. Hui was previously appointed to fill the seat. The Republicans do not have a candidate.
Also, in Ward 3, incumbent Elizabeth Iovine (D) is running unopposed. The Republicans do not have a candidate.
Lower Gwynedd
Two seats with six-year terms are up for election on the board of supervisors. Incumbent Danielle Duckett (D) and a new candidate, Andrea Brockway (D), are running. They are unopposed in the primary.
On the Republican side, there are Eric Holmquist and Vincent Small. They are unopposed in their primary.
Also up for election are the positions of auditor and tax collector. For auditor, incumbent Cathleen Pagano (D), is the only candidate. For tax collector, incumbent Natalie Cormier (D) is the only candidate.
Upper Dublin
There are three seats with four-year terms up for election on the board of commissioners.
Democrats have a single candidate in each ward. Incumbents Ira Tackel (Ward 4), Meredith Ferleger, and Alyson Fritzges (Ward 6).
Republicans are only fielding a candidate in Ward 4, Joey Noce.
Also, the position of tax collector is up for election. Incumbent Michael Klein (D) is the only candidate.
Whitpain
There are two seats with six-year terms up for election on the board of supervisors.
Running for the Democrats are incumbent Kimberly Koch and new candidate Robert Brunner. They are unopposed in the primary.
The Republicans have three candidates for the two seats: John McDevitt, Maureen Bogut, and Patricia Lorenzo.
The positions of tax collector and auditor are also up for election. Melissa Wanczyk (D) is running unopposed for tax collector, and Melvin Williams, Sr., is running unopposed for auditor.
