Community Observatory Night at MCCC

On Monday, April 10th, from 8 to 10 pm, the Montgomery County Community College presents Community Observatory Night. This free event offers the community an opportunity to explore the night sky at the MCCC Observatory and Observation Deck.

From MCCC:

The Observatory and Observation Deck are features of the College’s 60,000 square-foot Advanced Technology Center. The Observatory features a 16-inch MEADE Schmidt-Cassegrain research-level telescope and a 90-mm Coronado telescope for safe observation of the sun. All of the instruments are controllable both in the classroom as well as in the Observatory itself. Through a fiber network, images can be downloaded for further study and comparison and can be used in online courses.

This is part of a 6 session program offered by the College with three more dates scheduled for the fall – Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 14. Astronomy clubs and scout camps are welcome. Sessions are contingent on weather conditions. You can call the Observatory hotline at 215-641-6460 one hour before the scheduled session to check for possible cancellation. The Observatory is located on the third floor of the College’s Advanced Technology Center, Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.
