Conditional use hearing for advertising billboard in Blue Bell on April 2nd

On the April 2nd agenda for the Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors is a conditional use hearing involving a proposed billboard at 1273 DeKalb Pike (U.S. Route 202) in Blue Bell. The property is located within the C – Commercial District and falls within the Off-Premises Advertising Sign Overlay District. The property is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Christopher DePaul of Schwenksville and the applicant is Keystone Outdoor Advertising Company of Cheltenham.

A conditional use means that the use of such a billboard is allowed, however, the applicant must show it has met the required conditions. As part of this application, the supervisors are being asked to allow a billboard that is higher than is permitted to address its proposed location on a hill and the clearing of existing structures.

The property is adjacent to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The 10′ x 36′ digital billboard would face to the southbound lanes of the Northeast Extension section of the turnpike. It would be located on the backside of the property.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:00 p.m. at 960 Wentz Road in Blue Bell.
