Erin Churney of Ambler pleads guilty to felony DUI crash

Erin Hillary Churney, 38, of the 100 block of Greenwood Avenue, Ambler, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI in connection with the February 1, 2022, two-vehicle crash in Blue Bell.

The evening of the crash, Churney had a blood alcohol content of 0.285%, more than three times the legal driving limit of 0.08%.

The crash entrapped the victim who was extricated by emergency professionals and transported to a local hospital for a broken femur and internal bleeding.

Churney was sentenced to 10 to 23 months in the county jail and has been ordered to complete 8 years of probation following parole. As part of her sentence Churney also must pay a total of $61,072 in restitution to cover the victim’s medical expenses.
