Deonte Nasir Davis, 28, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison for his role in a February 2023 home invasion linked to a plot with two others to rob, kidnap and hold an Ambler woman against her will for ransom for more than 24 hours, Mainline Media News reported.
Davis pleaded guilty to charges of robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit burglary.
According to Mainline Media News, the incident began with a home invasion at the victim’s apartment at the Crossings at Ambler Station complex and carried over to a Philadelphia residence where the victim was held for ransom by Davis and two others.
Baheejah H. Alwan, 44, the mastermind of the plot, was previously sentenced to 13 to 45 years after pleading guilty to charges of kidnapping, burglary, robbery and conspiracy to commit burglary in connection with the incident.
Samaj Dawkins, 22, reportedly Alwan’s nephew, previously pleaded guilty to robbery, burglary and kidnapping-related charges and was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in prison.
Alwan had previously delivered drugs to the victim and knew she came from a wealthy family. She and two males reportedly entered the woman’s apartment. One of the males pointed a gun at the victim’s head before the group ransacked the victim’s apartment for about 45 minutes. Alwan then used duct tape to cover the victim’s mouth and bind her feet and hands while the males stole approximately $20,000 of her belongings.
