Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program has released details on its latest round of grants and it includes a $1 million grant towards Whitpain Township’s plan to create a park and camp at Mermaid Lake.
The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a grant program of the commonwealth administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.
In regards to Mermaid Park, the grant will go towards Infrastructure Improvements, including the demolition of antiquated structures and the addition of new utilities (electrical, wastewater, and potable water). This will include an entrance road, appropriate parking, and extensive renovations and expansion of the community building, snack bar, bathroom facility, administration building, and a new pavilion.
