Reader Responds to Superintendent’s Letter Calling for the Ban on Assault Weapons

As we reported on February 15th, Wissahickon School District’s Superintendent, James Crisfield, published a letter on district letterhead via the district’s website (shown below), that called for a ban on rapid-fire assault weapons. The letter was released in the wake of the February 14th shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

In response to Crisfield’s letter, Chris Saullo, a resident of Lower Gwynedd Township, submitted  a response letter (shown below) to AroundAmbler.com for consideration of it being published.  Because Saullo’s letter presumed that Crisfield violated his contract, we reached out collectively to the Wissahickon School Board in an effort to see if Dr. Crisfield had discussed his letter with any of them before it’s release.  After a few days, we received a response from the President of Wissahickon School Board, Joe Antonio, who offered his cell phone number and invited us to call with our questions. His email also had all of the School Board members copied.  Immediately following that email, and after a first attempt at calling Mr. Antonio, another email was sent to all from Debbie Greenstein, a Wissahickon School Board member, asking Joe Antonio directly if they had been advised by the solicitor to do this. We tried calling Antonio again, but he declined.  Screen shots are shown below  Chris Saullo’s letter of  both emails:
