St. Charles Borromeo Seminary recently broke ground on new campus in Lower Gwynedd

St. Charles Borromeo Seminary broke ground on its new campus in Lower Gwynedd Township on December 8th. The ceremony was held on the Roman Catholic holy day of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception as the new campus will have a chapel named Immaculate Conception Chapel.

In 2021 it was announced that the seminary was purchasing approximately 15 acres from Gwynedd Mercy University to be the home of its new seminary. The seminary sought a new home for its campus as it had sold its longtime home in Lower Merion Township near the border with Philadelphia.

In addition to the chapel, the new campus in Lower Gwynedd will include a student life center which will include a refectory, classrooms, a library, administrative offices, and a fitness center. There will also be housing for seminarians and resident faculty.

The estimated time for the campus transition to be completed is approximately two to three years.
