Whitpain Township is on board with Bike Montco, Montgomery County’s new bicycle mobility plan. Township Supervisor, Fred Conner, will serve on the Bike Montco Steering Committee.
From Whitpain Township:
“As Whitpain implements and refines our comprehensive plan, we should be thinking about bikeability in the same way as walkability,” Conner said. “Identifying connections for walkers and bikers from every neighborhood to get to our parks, schools, and commercial areas will remain a priority for the Township.”
A Transportation and Community Development Initiative Grant from the the Delaware County Regional Planning Commision is allowing Montgomery County to develop a plan to enhance bicycle safety throughout the County. Four types of bicycling opportunities will be considered – safe bicycle routes to parks and trails, bicycle mobility in towns, biking to transit and biking near colleges. Improved access for cyclists and more transportation choices are among the goals the County hopes to achieve. For more information about Bike Montco, click here.
There is also an interactive map developed by the Montgomery County Planning Commision that gives the public the chance to weigh in on the plan.
