Wissahickon HS Robotics Team competes at first district event for 2023

61 students from the Wissahickon High School Robotics Team 341 competed at the team’s first district event of 2023 last weekend at Hatboro-Horsham, which included eight matches on Saturday, and four matches on Sunday.

“The first few matches did not show our robot’s full capabilities as we had sensor and electrical gremlins appear. By the end of the day we had our robot working in perfect shape, delivering an amazing show for the final match of the day, earning the maximum amount of points to affect our ranking,” Kirsten Jahn Richardson, Head Coach, said.

The team came out of the qualification matches with a seventh-place finish out of 34 teams, and a fourth-best alliance after the elimination rounds. Wissahickon received the Industrial Design Award, which “celebrates the team that demonstrates industrial design principles, striking a balance between form, function, and aesthetics.”

Tiffany L. was named a Dean’s List District Championship Semi-Finalist, winners of which “are great examples of current student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for first and its mission while achieving personal technical expertise and accomplishment.”

Team coaches include Adam Nedorezov, Sean Stevens, Kara Bakowski, Scott England, Paul Shaffer, Vince Bevivino, Tim George, Lou Orehek, Frank Gorham-Engard, Scott Richardson, and David Leff.
