Woman killed on SEPTA Lansdale/Doylestown regional rail

A woman was killed on the SEPTA Lansdale/Doylestown regional rail line Tuesday morning, causing officials to shut down service to Doylestown temporarily.

The incident took place around 7:30am at the Penllyn Train Station in Lower Gwynedd Township near the intersection of Pershing Road and Old Penllyn Pike.

According to Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the pedestrian was struck by the 516 Train to Lansdale and was still under the train car.

“Trespasser was pronounced deceased at the scene. Service has resumed with residual delays,” the alert system said in a Facebook post.

The incident was first described by authorities as a medical emergency.
