Local Ambler Teacher Uses Comic Books as Teaching Tools

Tim Smyth, Social Studies teacher at Wishhahickon High School has an innovative way to make History come alive to his students. Beginning about two years ago, Mr. Smyth started integrating comic books into his History class and recently detailed his methods to WHYY in their Teacher’s Lounge Section.

From the PBS Site and Tim Smyth:

Comics serve as a time capsule for society and my students are encouraged to look at changes over time and analyze what they see. During Black History Month, I put out a variety of materials on topics such as the Harlem Hellfighters, Tuskegee Airmen, and even one on Senator John Lewis (March), which both students and teachers borrowed.
