On Wednesday, September 27, Gwynedd Mercy University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Frances M. Maguire Healthcare Innovation Center, a 65,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility designed to house the university’s innovative nursing and health programs.

The Center, made possible in part by a $10 million gift last year from The Maguire Foundation, will include immersive simulation and laboratory facilities. Students will have the opportunity to practice clinical skills and address complex scenarios, as the university prepares students to meet the next great need in healthcare.

In related news, the institution was named one of the nation’s top 100 U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges for 2024 – jumping 71 places, the largest increase of any school in the region and the sixth largest increase nationally.

This significant increase comes primarily as a result of an outcomes-focused methodology adjustment made by U.S. News & World Report. This year’s rankings put increased importance on how well schools do at graduating students from varying backgrounds, including first-generation students, and how well those students do after graduation.
