This Week at the Farm Stand at Ambler Yards

This coming Thursday, from 3 pm to 7 pm, the Farm Stand at Ambler Yards comes to town with locally sourced meats and produce from Lancaster County. Every week, we will let you know what to expect in the coming Thursday’s offerings and share information and recipes you can use at home to delight friends and family with fresh farm food!

This week, Asparagus again occupies our attention. What can we say, it’s May! Really though, how can we complain? Each spear is only 4 calories and contain no fat or cholesterol. Also, each individual Asparagus is called a spear! How cool is that? If your kids aren’t into vegetables, tell them they are eating spears…while we’re not sure that will entice them, it’s still neat to say.

Considering that Clay Brick has Spring Onions in abundance this week again, we decided to feature a recipe that includes both Asparagus AND Spring OnionsASPARAGUS AND CARAMELIZED SPRING ONION SAUTE – Green on green – Kermit would be proud!

The special of the week this week is grass-fed beef – beef cubes, stir fry and chip steak…WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! Other items slated are a full line of beef, pork and chicken products including 4 flavors of sausage. All-natural whole milk, 2% milk, skim milk, homemade butter and Free-Range Eggs. We have Raw and Strained Honey, 100% Pure PA Maple Syrup that was just bottled. We have Fresh Caught Rainbow Trout Fillets, caught this week!!! In the produce line we will have: Rhubarb, Fuji Apples, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Baby Spinach, Red Beets, Kale, Onions, Spring mix, and Mushrooms. Stop by and browse our large selection of home canned fruits, veggies and jams. Also, homemade Cheese, Aged Cheddar Cheese in several different flavors! Made with Raw Milk by Hill Pride Acres Farm.
