Wissahickon School Board seeks candidates to apply for appointment to open seat

Prior to the November election, Wissahickon School Board candidate Ian Berg passed away. His death came close to the election date so he could not be replaced on the ballot. Berg’s vote total was among the top five, thus he won a seat on the board.

Due to his death, the board will go through the process to appoint a replacement that will serve two years. A special election will be held in 2025 to complete the second two-years of Berg’s term.

Below is the notice from the Wissahickon Board of School Directors on how to seek the appointment:

The Wissahickon Board of School Directors seeks letters of interest and resumes for a school director vacancy. The appointed school director will serve a two-year term beginning December 2023 and ending December 2025.  

Interested candidates should submit their letter of interest and resume/CV, attention Mrs. Amy Ginsburg, President, Wissahickon School Director, by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023. There are two submission options: complete the online submission form to upload your information; or deliver/drop-off your information to the District Administration Office, 601 Knight Road, Ambler, PA 19002. The office is open 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each weekday.

All candidates are invited to attend the public school board meeting in-person on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. to participate in the interview process during this public meeting. In-person attendance is required. Following interviews during this public meeting, the Board will vote to appoint a new school director to fill this vacancy.
