Learn About the Pub Crawl Through Ambler That Benefits the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation

Four years ago, Blue Bell resident Carol Leone and her sister, Diane Celia organized a small pub crawl through Ambler with around fifteen friends.  They decided that Ambler was the perfect town because there are so many great bars and restaurants so close to one another.

The group had such a great time that first year and decided to do it again the following year, this time attached to a cause.  That decision was easy and one that hit close to home, and they chose The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation ( CCFA).

Carol explained to AroundAmbler.com why CCFA is a beneficiary of their pub crawl and a worthwhile cause:

My son was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at the age of 17 so this was one that was dear to our hearts. My good friend Tamson Zucker’s daughter also was diagnosed with Crohn’s. The three of us got together and organized the first official pub crawl for CCFA in 2016.We are proud to say that we are going on our 3rd year and it gets bigger and better every year!

There are 1.6 million Americans diagnosed and living with either Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis. Both of which are painful, and medically incurable diseases which attach the digestive system.  There are 70,000 new cases diagnosed every year, most people developing the disease between the ages of 15 and 35. According the the CCFA, the average patient is misdiagnosed twice.  Crohn’s and Colitis patients also can develop many complications like, anemia, eye inflammation, joint pain and more.
