Philadelphia Man Sentenced to Prison for Hit and Run that Killed Blue Bell Tow Truck Driver

Philadelphia man, Emmanuel Doxy, 37, was charged with homicide by vehicle and accidents involving death or personal injury and sentenced last week to 8 1/2 – 17 years in jail. The incident involved a hit and run crash that occurred on January 28, 2018 and took the life of Michael House, 32 of Blue Bell.

Michael House, a tow truck driver, was assisting a disabled motorist when he was struck and killed. Emmanuel Doxy, driving a pickup truck, crashed into House, did not stop after he hit him despite his windshield being severely cracked and fled the scene.

While Judge William R. Carpenter acknowledged Doxy’s remorse, he said Doxy’s conduct in failing to stop at the scene of the crash warranted a stiff sentence. The judge said while Doxy didn’t intend to kill someone he did intend to not call the police or report the crash…
