In a Press Release from Representative Kate Harper’s office, Rep. Harper praises the Lower Gwynedd Township Police and The Community Ambulance Association of Ambler after falling and breaking her ankle on Penn Oak Trail in Lower Gwynedd:

Rep. Kate Harper (R-Montgomery) is praising Lower Gwynedd Township, police and emergency responders, and the medical team at Abington Hospital after falling and breaking her ankle on Tuesday.

Harper was walking on Penn Oak Trail in Lower Gwynedd when she slipped on the ice and fell. Unable to get up, she called 9-1-1 for assistance.

“Everyone – from the people at the 9-1-1 center, to the police, ambulance personnel and doctors and nurses at the hospital – was fantastic,” Harper said. “We are fortunate here in the county and in Lower Gwynedd to have so many dedicated professional ready to help any time someone is in need.

“While I hope to never need their services again, it gives me great peace of mind knowing they are there,” she added.

Harper praised Lower Gwynedd Township for its foresight in using a detailed marking system for the trail. Because of that system, she was able to tell dispatchers exactly where she had fallen.

Lower Gwynedd police arrived on the scene first and then guided personnel with the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler to her location. Since the ambulance could not get that far back the trail, they had to bring in another vehicle to transport Harper to the ambulance, and then to Abington Hospital.

Harper had surgery on her ankle Tuesday evening and had several pins inserted to help it heal properly.

“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Montgomery County 9-1-1 dispatchers, Lower Gwynedd Township police, personnel with the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler, the medical team at Abington Hospital and to township officials for their marking of the trail,” Harper said.

The lawmaker is in regular contact with the staff at her Blue Bell office, and she stressed the office remains open and ready to serve the people of the 61st Legislative District. The office is located at the historic Boxwood House at 1098 Skippack Pike in Blue Bell. It can be reached at 610-277-3230.
