Whitpain to hold third virtual meeting about future of Mermaid Lake

Whitpain Township has a third virtual meeting scheduled for Monday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the future master plan for Mermaid Lake. The township bought the property in 2020.

The township is seeking the public’s input on the master plan process and help in creating a vision for the new park. This is the third of four planned meetings.

Thus far the discussions have led to three concepts that offer varying levels of uses of the park. For example, the most passive plan, Concept A, has the portion of the property across Arch Road from the main property as open space. In Concept B, this area is a chip and putt. In Concept C it would be home to a 31,000 square foot community center with two indoor basketball courts. Corresponding parking lots for these uses grow from holding 20 vehicles to 40 and finally 100.

You can view a presentation document here, plus specifics for Concept A, Concept B, and Concept C.
