Wissahickon School Board to vote on modular classrooms to provide a short-term solution to Blue Bell Elementary’s growing enrollment

Wissahickon School District Superintendent Dr. James Crisfield sent out an email today that provided an outline of how the district is considering responding to the growing enrollment at Blue Bell Elementary School.

The Wissahickon School Board will be asked to vote during its December 13th meeting to approve a three-year lease for two modular classrooms that would be in place at the school for the 2022-23 school year. Dr. Crisfield highlighted that this would be a short-term solution similar in nature to how modular classrooms were utilized at Stoney Creek Elementary. It is also mentioned that encore (elective) classes would most likely use these classrooms.

During the same meeting, the board will also be asked to approve a contract for an architect and engineer design team to evaluate a long-term solution. Dr. Crisfield highlighted that the school property has challenges in regards to expansion.

On January 5th at 7:00 p.m., the district will hold a public zoom meeting to review the actual and projected enrollment for the school and answer questions regarding the process that will be undertaken to develop a long-term solution. As of January 5th, the design team will not have yet provided options to the district. Once the design team presents options, there will be additional meetings to review and have public input.

The details on how to join the Zoom meeting have not yet been provided.
