Wissahickon School District Launches Fundraiser for Veteran Memorial

Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Foundation (WEOF) and Wissahickon School District is kicking off a fundraiser to raise money to install a veteran memorial in a highly visible location on it’s campus.  The memorial will honor the brave men and women who serve to protect our country, and will be build in a highly visible location in front of Wissahickon High School near the stadium parking lot. Wissahickon School District and WEOF hopes to begin construction of the memorial in January 2019 with an unveiling celebration on Memorial Day 2019.

The district will also recognize Wissahickon High School and Ambler High School alumni who are veterans, in the digital Wall of Honor in the high school’s Audion lobby.  The digital Wall of Honor features bios and videos of the alumni veterans.

WEOF is looking for community sponsorships to support their effort and goal of raising $40,000. All contributions to WEOF, a 501(c)(3), are tax deductible. Donations can be made online here and by check.

Wissahickon School District is also requesting assistance in gathering
contact information for Wissahickon High School and Ambler High School alumni who served in the armed forces. If you know alumni who served, please complete the Alumni Veteran Contact Form .

Also, community suggestions are being considered for the inspirational quote to be etched on the Veteran Memorial. All suggestions can be submitted here by April 13, 2018.
